Geelong wardrobe supplier, Cabinetmakers Choice add style to The Block.

With teams furiously trying to complete their outdoor kitchens on The Block this week, Geelong team Andy and Ben and their four competitor teams are closer than ever to auction.

Geelong business Cabinetmakers Choice has been along for the ride, designing and building storage solutions for Andy and Ben as well as Kim and Chris.

Cabinetmakers Choice owners Nigel Robinson and Chris Adamko worked hard to meet their teams’ specifications and help them to victory.

Built in Geelong, the cabinets were transported to the Port Melbourne site, a former soap factor with an art deco design. Throughout the year they battled with other tradespeople for space and sticking to tight deadlines each week.

They are responsible for Ben and Andy’s revolving shoe-rack, a winner with storage queen Shaynna Blaze.

The business was also behind the cabinetry in the boys’ guest bedroom, the first 10 out of 10 room from every judge on this season. The team also designed a Sex & the City style wardrobe for Kim and Chris’ master suite.

“It’s a tight timeframe to meet with contestants, draw up designed, make design changes, have the wardrobes made and installed – all before room reveal and within budget,” Nigel says.

“It’s hectic and the cabinetmakers worked until midnight most nights especially during master bedroom week.”

With all of the pressures coming from camera crews, contestants and all of the unexpected issues that can come up during a build, Nigel and Chris were still pleased they jumped on board.

“We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to participate in The Block helping the contestants with restoring the Port Melbourne Building to its former glory,” Nigel says.
